DELTA ECONOMIC EDUCATION RESOURCE SERVICE

(DEERS)

Delta Economic Education Resource Service (DEERS) is a non-profit organization that provides educational assistance and works as an advocate for low-income and ESL taxpayers who are in controversy with the IRS.  The overall goal of DEERS is to promote community development, education, social, civil, and economic equality for low-income families in Eastern Arkansas, Mississippi and Shelby County areas.

DEERS has become aware of the growing ESL individuals migrating into the Mid-South area that have little or no understanding of the IRS process.  As an outreach organization, the goal of DEERS is to educate and assist both low-inome and ESL individuals with tax issues that impact their lives.

DEERS will adequately educate and inform its participants in federal income tax laws and regulations, as well as the rights and responsibilities of taxpayers, rights and responsibilities of the employer, proper income tax filing, applying for the ITIN, IRS accounts, collections, examinations, appeals matters, installment agreements and qualifying credits and deductions.  DEERS educate taxpayers by holding group seminars, disseminating of brochures, flyers, and face to face interviews on an individual basis.
